Teaching School Alliances are led by a teaching school and include schools that are benefiting from support as well as Strategic Partners, Local Authorities and Higher Education Institutions who lead some aspects of training and development.
In Kent and Medway the number of Teaching Schools has grown year on year, reaching a total of 14.
We work increasingly closely together as a network of Alliances, sharing our planning, supporting each other and continuously evolving our understanding of the role. The cornerstone that binds us together across Kent and Medway is a strong sense of moral purpose to contribute to the development of the self-improving school-led system.
The role of a Teaching School is to act as a catalyst for the development of Alliances through which schools can build strong, meaningful and trustful relationships.
The over-arching aims of Teachings Schools are to support the development of high quality teaching, learning and leadership and to build capacity for schools to support each other. These aims are achieved through our work on priority areas known as the Big 6:
- CPD and Leadership Development
- School to School Support
- Specialist Leaders of Education (SLEs)
- Research and Development
- Succession Planning and Talent Management
