Teaching School Council

Teaching School Council

The aim of the Teaching Schools Council is to work with teaching schools and other stakeholders to support the development of a self-improving school-led system, characterized by excellence and equity.

With a reach nationally of 95%, the teaching school network is the largest single entity for system leadership in the country. Our aim is to reach 600 Teaching Schools by 2016.

The Teaching Schools network is broad and diverse, comprising a range of phases, sectors and specialisms. City Technology Colleges, Academies, Nurseries, Independent schools, Sixth Form Colleges, Special Schools and Pupil Referral Units all take pride in their designation as national Teaching Schools.

The scope and reach of our network means that Teaching School alliances have tremendous potential as we move even more closely to a school-led system. Together we are stronger and have the potential to make a real and lasting difference to the system and to the life chances of the young people with which we are all so invested.

The elected Teaching School Council, representative for the South East is Julie Knock-Bravery, Principal of Pound Hill Infant Academy. You can contact her at julie.knock-bravery@tscouncil.org.uk
